Coming in at just over 90 seconds, Dutch Wife, the brand-spanking-new experimental animation from London-based designer and filmmaker Jesse Kanda, defies all logic, showing us woman and pond merged. What exactly happens in the film? It’s hard to say – but it’s a breathtakingly beautiful and mind-bending experience not to be missed. The simplicity here creates real richness in visual contrast (just a glossy-black figure on a white background) and concept (an unexplainable but pleasantly enigmatic tableaux). In addition to directing and animating the film, Kanda also composed the soundtrack, as he did with his previous short Waking From A Coma.
